WELLBEING TENNIS FOR MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS IN 2022
Accessible Tennis Community Interest Company (CIC) is providing social tennis and tennis coaching for underrepresented groups in sport such as people with disabilities or long-term health conditions. It is founded on the following guiding principles: Improving and maintaining good mental health and wellbeing, participation by service users in service delivery and involvement of Carers.
Sessions will be delivered by award winning Accredited Plus Level 3 Coach Marie Burns. Established in 2016, Accessible Tennis CIC has delivered tennis to a wide variety of groups which earned the nomadic club the 2018 Tennis Scotland Disability award.
People in Recovery
For services with People in Recovery, Phoenix Futures nominated Marie for the 2018 Mary Barbour Award. The nominations were for outstanding women making valuable contributions to community life in the City of Glasgow.
People with Mental Health problems
Marie was positioned as the Lead Coach on the successful Get Active Community Mental Health Tennis Programme (Kelvingrove/ Gorbals) video footage and case study on the LTA website.
People with Learning Disability, Wheelchair, Deaf and Visual Impairment
Completed Continual professional development and coached in all areas.
Accessible Tennis CIC is a signatory to the Scottish Mental Health Charter.

SESSIONS:
Tuesday afternoon coaching 3pm - 4pm
£2.00 per session
The new services sessions are specifically targeted at mental health and people in Recovery from Drug and Alcohol addiction who also may have mental health issues.
Saturday evening social tennis
Selected Saturday evenings from 6pm - 8pm
£2.00 per session
Informal and fun sessions of tennis activities, Marie Burns will deliver Social Tennis to adults (age 18+) with mental health issues and people in Recovery from Drug and Alcohol addiction. Social tennis is proven to have a positive impact on the physical and mental health/wellbeing of participants. Over 80% feel happier, more confident, made friends, learned skills and improved fitness as a result of these sessions.
